I love church! I love that we can come together on Sundays to celebrate what God is doing in the lives of those around us, and witness baptisms and proclamations of faith. We can hear inspiring sermons, and sing God’s praises together. And I’m also so glad that we have a place where we can come when we’re hurting.

If that’s you this morning, I want to encourage you to spend some time this week reading Psalm 34. The whole thing is amazing. 22 verses of encouragement about how God looks out for those of his children who are hurting. If that’s you this morning, I want you to close your eyes as the rest of us sing this next song and just listen – take it in. And for those who aren’t necessarily in the middle of a dry and desert time right now, we can still rejoice in the fact that we have a God who cares for us when we are in those difficult times. So whether you’re there right now or not, let’s remember that our God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit, and let’s praise Him.

Psalm 34: 4-10

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.
5 Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.
6 This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.

8Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

9 Fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing.
10 The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Romans 1:8 “I am the Alpha and Omega – the beginning and the end” says The Lord, “I am the one who is, who was, and who is still to come – the Almighty One.” This is the God we worship. Not some made up, fairy tale god, or some some golden calf made by human hands. We worship the Great I Am, who was, who is, and who is still to come.
